ThriveBerry’s Guide On How To Get Rid Of Lice Naturally

Safely Delouse Your House, Your Spouse, and Your Kid

By Maris Abelson

Unfortunately, some lice (aka “superlice”) have developed a tolerance for over-the-counter lice shampoos. Those shampoos also usually contain permethrin, which is a member of the pyrethroid family and is a neurotoxin.) You can follow the same protocol one would use for applying lice shampoo but substitute natural products. Here’s a how-to that killed everything on my kid’s head in one night. You’ll want to keep using the tea tree added to your shampoo and the lice comb for a few nights, to make sure you get any remaining eggs:

Buy the following, if you don’t already have them:

  • At least one disposable shower cap per infested child/adult

  • Lice comb (a variety can be helpful)

  • Large container of coconut oil (suffocates the lice)

  • 2 or more ounces of tea tree oil (kills the lice eggs)

  • Disposable small towels to wear around the neck and to wipe oil off one’s face
